It’s universally known that the pandemic was a really, really rough time for anyone in the music industry. Even the record labels that seemed to prosper from increased streaming numbers and consumption weren’t immune, as their artists, colleagues and infrastructure went down, and went down hard.
Reflecting on this time, we can still identify the positives that have emerged in the aftermath of such an unpredictable time. Without a safety net, people have had to reflect and look closer at what success means for them and as a result, we have seen better business practices grow.
On a systemic and cultural level, the pandemic has put the spotlight on issues that have needed to be addressed for some time.
