Matt Gudinski has been working in the music industry since he was a teenager, though some could say he was born to eventually step into the legacy-defined shoes of his father, the late and iconic Mushroom Group founder, Michael Gudinski.
Officially joining the Mushroom family at just 17 years of age in 2003, Matt has been a central figure in the evolution of the company; working in the label and touring divisions, while developing its music publishing and artist management arms. In 2013, Matt took the position of Mushroom’s Executive Director, working alongside his father in continuing to elevate Mushroom’s status as a formidable global music player. In 2021, following Michael’s passing, Matt became Chief Executive and has been more ambitious than ever to take the Mushroom Group into its next era, marrying the core vision of the company with a contemporary outlook ahead.
Matt Gudinski appears at BIGSOUND in conversation with noted journalist Lars Brandle to discuss the new era for the Mushroom Group and establishing his own legacy and framework for Australian music success.
