Proud Woppaburra descendent, Jackson Van Issum, is the frontman and guitarist of Brisbane-based indie punk band Beddy Rays.
The band has been on a steep trajectory since their breakthrough single ‘Sobercoaster’ was released in 2020 and landed a spot in the triple j Hottest 100. Beddys have gained multiple nominations at both the Queensland Music Awards and National Indigenous Music Awards, won the Levi’s Music Prize in 2021 and rocked a cover of Thelma Plum’s 'Better in Blak' for triple Like A Version.
Their recently released debut album landed at #2 Australian Album and #1 Vinyl on the ARIA charts, and the band is currently in the middle of an extensive national album tour, before closing the year out with appearances at Spilt Milk and Falls Festival.
