Shaan Ross Smith

#About

Shaan Ross-Smith commenced at Griffith University in late 2016 as the Director of the MATE program delivered through Griffith University’s Violence Research and Prevention Program. Prior to commencing at Griffith University Shaan spent sixteen years working within the prison system though her various managerial and director roles with Queensland Corrective Services, including Director of Offender Rehabilitation and Management across Queensland. Shaan chose to diversify this experience in 2014 to work with victims/survivors at the Domestic Violence Prevention Centre as the Integrated Response Manager, while continuing to work with perpetrators through a behaviour change program.
n 2022, Shaan has steered the MATE program to the forefront of bystander, domestic violence and gender equality resources. The program has expanded to include e-learning, webinar series, and now includes racism, bullying, harassment, discrimination and workplace culture. Shaan was also recently selected to form part of a state first Safety and Diversity Advisory Group for Queensland Music.
